About Do Dham Yatra

Get ready to seek blessings from the divine and observe the blissful temples in Uttarakhand by availing Do Dhaam Yatra tour packages. Among all the Char Dhaams, you can choose any two like Kedarnath and Badrinath while planning your Do Dham Yatra.

Kedarnath is one of the holy temples of Lord Shiva and is also the jyotirlinga, while Badrinath is a blessed place devoted to Hindu Lord Vishnu. In Hindus, the Do Dham yatra is considered an extremely important step toward attaining soulful peace.

It is often believed that going on a Do Dham Yatra often washes away all your sins and sets you on the track to salvation. Do Dham yatra is a small yatra that involves a small time duration of only 5 to 7 days.

This yatra starts in April-May and ends in the months of October-November every year. However, the best time to do the Do Dhaam yatra is in the month of September because this region witnesses heavy rainfall from June to August, which causes serious difficulties for the pilgrims.

Kedarnath

Well-known for its massive religious significance, Kedarnath Dham is surrounded by snow-covered mountains and stunning landscapes. Kedarnath Temple is located in the Garhwal Himalayan range near Mandakini River.

According to the legends linked with the temple, it is believed that Lord Shiva masked himself as a bull to avoid the Pandavas who desired to pray to him for freedom from the blame of killing the Kauravas.

On being detected by the Pandavas, Lord Shiva hopped into the ground but the hump of his bull body remained outside only. Therefore, the Pandavas built a temple on this site which later became the holy Kedarnath temple.

Apart from enjoying the calm atmosphere and unbelievably lovely beauty, attending the Rudra Abhishek Puja should be on your list when visiting Kedarnath temple. This puja is conducted in the morning every day to take blessings from the Rudra.

It is important to know that doors of Kedarnath temple are opened in May and closed after Diwali. Remember you cannot reach Kedarnath temple directly by the road. To reach this temple, you need to first take on a 14-km uphill trek that starts from Gaurikund.

To reach Gaurikund, you can hire taxis and or take buses from famous towns and cities like Chamoli, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Pauri, Uttarkashi, and Tehri.

Badrinath

Situated wonderfully between the Nar and Narayan Mountain ranges, Badrinath is one of the most admired pilgrimage sites in India. Not only this, but Badrinath is also the final leg of Do Dham.

This place not only attracts devotees from across the world but also adventure seekers and nature lovers. To remember Lord Vishnu who dedicated himself to mankind, the Badrinath temple was constructed.

As per Hindu mythology, it is said that Lord Shiva meditated under the Badri Tree for 1000 years in order to welfare mankind. When visiting this temple, devotees can dip in Tapti Kund which is an essential aspect of Badrinath Yatra. This hot water spring is deliberated as the home of Lord Agni.

During the Badrinath yatra, don’t forget to visit Vyas Gufa where Maharishi Vyas wrote Mahabharat with the assistance of Lord Ganesha.
