The term Deoban is derived from the word “Deo”
which means Deodar trees and “Ban” means forests. During the Deoban trek, you
are going to find a number of Deodar trees around yourself. Mostly in the
Uttrakhand trails you will find Deodar trees mixed with other trees present in
the forest. However, in Kashmir or Himachal you will usually see an entire
trail of Deodar trees. If you want to experience the trail of Deodar trees
and views of 55 high mountains that too within 2 days then you should
definitely go for Deoban trek once in your life. It is a golden opportunity for
trekkers and mountain lovers to witness some enthralling and marvelous views of
mountains in just 2 days.
Deoban trek is a popular weekend trek that mainly
lies in the Kanasar Forest range bordering Himachal Pradesh. Deoban is nested
at a height of 3000 meters above sea level. However, the Deoban trek is one of
the best winter treks for people who want to experience snow. From 3000
meters, Deoban is known for giving the captivating views of 55 peaks like
Swargarohini, Nanda Devi, Bandarpoonch, and many more. The camping sites of
this trek are completely blessed with an eye-catchy and appealing meadow.
During the winter season, the trail is completely covered with snow, making it
an adventure winter trek.
During the Deoban trek you will come across a
picturesque and entrancing place known as Chakrata. Here you will find the
dense forest of different trees like Deodar, oaks, and pines. However, you will
also get the opportunity to explore Vyas Point which will give you striking
Himalayan mountain range views. One of the best things about Vyas is that it is
not crowded at all. However, it is also believed that Vasudev wrote Mahabharata
from Vyas Point.

Deoban Trek (Detailed Itinerary)
Trek 4 km/ 3-4 hours
The pickup point will be Dehradun Railway Station and then we will drive to Chakrata which is a stunning hill station and also a popular tourist spot that passes through the great mountain roads.
You will be offered lunch on the route and then we will be reaching to Lokhandi which is a beautiful village and also the place from trek will start. After having a short break we will head towards Saraswati. During the trek, you will come across an eye-catchy variety of flora and fauna.
A quick trek of 1 km from Kopti will take you to an appealing campsite Saraswati. Spend your night here in the tent and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding.
Trek 11km/ 5-6 hours
Drive 110km/ 4 hours
Wake up early in the morning and have a tasty & healthy breakfast. From Sarawati we will start the trek back to Chakrata. During the trail, you will come across a different variety of green trees like pine, oak, and rhododendron.
We will go through Vyas point from where you can have an amazing and awe-inspiring view of Himalayas. You will also get an outstanding view of Shivalik range after reaching Vyas point. Do spend some time here admiring the beauty of nature and capturing it in your camera.
We will be back to Dehradun, marking the end of the beautiful trek journey.
